An introduction to Our Business
Formed in 1986 and later incorporated as JTR Industries in 1988, we began by serving the construction market selling power distribution and control products to contractors throughout the metropolitan Chicago-land area. As the business evolved, JTR Industries found itself becoming more abundantly involved in the sale of both high end paralleling, and non-paralleling switchgear. The business soon expanded into generator controls.
It then became the marketing focus of JTR Industries to concentrate its efforts around generator control and switchgear sales. Thus making the engine dealer, gen-set assembler, and distributed generation/cogeneration turn-key engineers our first priority.
As a result of those efforts, in 1990, Republic Electric Development Corporation of Peoria (REDCO) quickly became the flagship line of JTR Industries. We remained the exclusive agent for REDCO in this area until 1997 when we then became the exclusive agent, within our designated territory, for Enercon Engineering, also out of Peoria.
In 1994 Vaporphase Heat Recovery was added and in 2003 a complete line of UPS, Batteries, and Chargers became a part of the family, when we added the name - "The Power Generation and Control Group" to better reflect our place in the market. Our scope of products widened again in 2009 with the addition of General Thermodynamics, which has since become API Heat Transfer. Our line-up of products still does, and will always remain, synergistic with the power generation market.
Geographically, our sphere of influence includes the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
Our experience includes over 35 years in the power distribution and control market, along with over 20 years in power generation. We remain active members of the Midwest Cogeneration Association where Tom Riemer served as president for over 5 years and now John Pat Cloughley of our group, presently serves as Treasurer.
